This benefit for the Five Cities Homeless Coalition begins at 6:30 p.m. and includes wine, gourmet hors d’oeuvres, live music, a silent auction, and an awards presentation. The Pismo Beach Conference & Visitors Bureau has teamed up with Amtrak to make this year’s Feb. 5 California Western Monarch Day celebration both memorable and affordable. Walk, jog, drive, bicycle, or ride the Amtrak — kids for free — to experience the miracle of the Monarch butterfly migration at Pismo Beach State Park. Pismo Beach Conference & Visitors Bureau representatives will be at the grove from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. offering cake and punch and a chance to win two sets of tickets on Amtrak. Amtrak is helping promote the special day by allowing up to two children aged 2-15 to travel FREE on the Amtrak California Pacific Surfliner to and from the Grover Beach Amtrak Station, a short walk from the butterfly grove.
