Hello travelers!
My name is Thea and I’m here to inspire you to go out and experience all that Pismo Beach has to offer. Since I am new to the area, I thought it would be fun to document my experiences and share them with travelers, or refresh local minds of the fun things that happen every day in their own backyards.
When I moved to San Luis Obispo from the East Coast this summer, I did not know what to expect. What I found was a beautiful town settled in the hills of California, far different from my small New Jersey town. I was eager to settle into my house and start my internship in Pismo Beach, not knowing what I would find.
When I took the bus to Pismo that first day I was a little bummed, I had no car and was stuck taking the bus every day. My spirits were instantly lifted, however, once the view of the ocean came into sight from the 101. I couldn’t believe how lucky I was! My office was practically on the beach with an ocean view from my window, and I was only an intern. I couldn’t help but laugh as I thought of my friends stuck in their cubicles in New York City.
I quickly realized that Pismo had a lot to offer, and that I should start exploring as soon as possible. As I said before, this blog will share my experiences in Pismo and hopefully inspire travelers to get out and experience some of the cool things Pismo has to offer!
Until next time!

Pismo Beach Monarch Butterfly Grove
Each year thousands of vibrant orange and black Monarch Butterflies flock to Pismo Beach, seeking shelter from the freezing northern winters. From late October to February, the butterflies cluster in the limbs of a grove of Eucalyptus trees at Pismo State Beach. The grove is easily accessible. It is located on State Highway 1 at the south boundary of the city limits of Pismo Beach.
