AmpSurf – 4th Annual Amputee & Disabled Surfing In Pismo Beach

“Operation Restoration” is in Pismo Beach for four days of events. The highlight for many is the surfing and surf instruction that happens on the south side of the Pismo Beach Pier. Many of the participants are veterans. Each is handled in the water by a team of volunteers. For more information on next years event go to AmpSurf.org.

Ampsurf in Pismo Beach Starts Today – Schedule of Events

AmpSurf’s aim is to give all disabled participants a memorable invigorating experience. This Clinic is free to all
severely disabled & we work on sponsorships for our disabled active duty military and veterans*. This is our way of thanking them for their service. Please contact us for more information and qualification*

Surf instruction is provided by accomplished surfers who volunteer to help us help others. Instruction is on a one-to-one basis and the instructors will work to meet individual needs and abilities, at all levels. We use traditional surfboards & most participants learn to ride solo, some will ride Tandem with his/her instructor depending on ability. Life vests & helmets are provided and maybe required depending on ability and what instructors feel is needed. Kayaking, Outrigger Canoeing, golf, wakeboarding, & fishing instruction will also be available on scheduled days.

Injured Veterans and the Disabled Find Surf Therapy in Pismo Beach

Disabled veterans and Local disabled, along with wounded active duty service man from Brooke Army Medical Center are traveling to Pismo Beach, California, August 13th – 20th to experience the thrill of surfing. Most of these soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines lost limbs, were burned, or have PTSD from serving in operations over seas. The Association of Amputee Surfers (Ampsurf) along with professional and local surfers will provide the instruction for Operation Restoration IV.
